Cliff Seruntine is the author of "Seasons of the Sacred Earth" and "The Wildwood Way", and has taught foraging and back-to-basics skills across the Maritimes for many years. Cliff will join us at FireLoch for an active, full day of exploration of the natural world around us and at the end of the day we will gather at the Cobb oven to prepare a meal out of the delicious treats we find all around us.
During this workshop we will cover: a) Plant and fungi taxonomy b) Recognizing key identification traits c) Using all the senses in plant identification d) Patterns that help with IDing other species e) Foraging conservation skills.
We will be outdoors all day. Participants will be responsible for bringing a water bottle, bug/tick protection, sunscreen, etc. At the end of our workshop we will make a meal together using the clay oven to make flatbreads. Please reach out if you have questions about our facilities or will require support or accommodations in order to participate.
